Statement

Following a dialogue between sculpture and graphics, between materiality and transparency, the “mixed-media-wire-sculptures” have been created, freely in space and according to the imagination, since 2009. They are also based on experimentation and an open designing process.

At the beginning of this dialogue it was only a question of using the wire line with its possibility of compression and scattering. So the works were like a fine drawn line out of its two-dimensional space, put into 3D. (Serie: “Zeichnung im Raum” – engl. “drawing in space”)

Starting in 2015, the wire line has been complemented by paint, metal casting and modelling clay. With these four materials an attempt is made to take up the characteristics of an ink drawing, its lightness and spontaneity, and transfer them into three-dimensional space, too. (Serie: “Tusche 3D” – engl. “3D ink-drawing”)

In this, the ” 3D ink lines” and their “blurrings” are basic design elements. With them I sound out a minimal material input, discribe an imaginary volume and capture the essence of an gestural-expressive manifestation in a form-giving but irregular shaping mesh.

This linear interweaving partly contains abstract forms, but mainly embodies fragments of the human figure. The content topics are based on ideas of dissolve and emerge as well as rise and fall. But more importantly it is about physical gesture as a part of nonverbal (human) communication.
